The IT professional year programme was created by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) to assist international ICT (Information & Communications Technology) graduates in gaining practical experience and a solid education. Regular counselling during the course of the programme is another essential component in assisting students in gaining comprehensive and useful information.
The initiative was started by the Department of Home Affairs with the intention of addressing Australia’s skill gap. The 44-week curriculum covers the first 32 weeks of theoretical instruction and instruction in communication skills, and the final 12 weeks provide students the chance to put their newly gained knowledge and abilities to use through internships.
Students who successfully complete the programme are also entitled to receive an additional 5 points on the Department of Home Affairs point test, increasing their chances of being granted permanent residency in Australia.
