A parent visa falls under the family visa category. The parent visa is one of the several family visas available in Australia. The government made major revisions to the Other Family visas on June 2, 2014.

Parent visas fall into two main kinds. While the other visa may be sought for after you leave Australia, the first can be applied for while you are still there.

 

If the applicant is in Australia:

 

The applicant can apply for Contributory Aged Parent (Residence) visa (Subclass 864)

The applicant can apply for Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) visa (Subclass 884)

The applicant can apply for Contributory Aged Parent (Residence) visa (form subclass 884 to subclass 864)

If the applicant is Outside Australia:

The applicant can apply for Contributory Parent (Migrant) visa (Subclass 143)

The applicant can apply for Contributory Parent (Temporary) visa (Subclass 173)

The applicant can apply for Contributory Parent (Migrant) visa (from subclass 173 to subclass 143)
